A fund has been launched to raise money to help the family of the high-rise apartment painter who died in a tragic "rope-cutting" murder on June 8.
Citizens were heartbroken after they heard the painter had left a widow and five children, the oldest 18 and the youngest 27 months.
Ungsang Story, an internet cafe for Yangsan residents, started the fund on Wednesday to help the family.
"I was so heartbroken after I heard the story," one person posted on the fund's site. "We do not know where the five children and wife live, but hope we can be of help wherever they live."
As of Thursday, the amount collected was 20 million won ($17,800).
The internet cafe also plans to hold a free market at the Ungsang Culture & Sports Center Plaza in Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province, on June 18 to collect more money.
The painter, surnamed Kim, fell 40 meters after a man allegedly cut his safety rope in a dispute over noisy music, causing Kim to plunge to his death from a 15-story building.
