Akira Ikegami, a former NHK journalist, spoke on Fuji TV last Friday on a show titled "Akira Ikegami's urgent special ― the puzzle of Korea, seemingly aware but unaware."
"Korea is not a country that its citizens fought for," Ikegami said on the show.
"Korea formed after Japan lost the war, and left the Chosun peninsula behind. It's like a pumpkin that rolled in unexpectedly ― this is why the people have an inferiority complex, because they never fought to establish their country."
Ikegami also said that in the case of Germany, "Regarding our historic pasts, it should be enough that we officially delivered a proper apology at the Congress in the United States, do we really need to make a public apology to Korea?"
