A video clip showing a foreigner beating an old Korean man during a street scuffle was spreading on websites Friday, with many netizens posting comments demanding the police investigate the case.
In the clip, the American man initially argues with an older Korean man on a street flanked by restaurants in Itaewon, Seoul, while some people were attempting to break them up. But the American suddenly bolts towards the old man and pounds him in the head with his fist five to six times.
He was stopped by two or three Korean passersby as the old man collapsed on the street.
Still, he, being pulled away by other Koreans, yelled at him, “I fought in Iraq for six years. I killed more men than you have ever met,” using abusive words in between. Many netizens are claiming that police should investigate the case and hold the attacker accountable.
The scuffle took place in Itaewon on Oct. 2, according to the Police. Police said they dropped the case as the Korean, 58, did not want either party to be punished.
Police said the American, 31, is not a soldier as opposed to speculation by many netizens earlier.
Police said the scuffle started in a nearby billiard room after the Korean asked for an apology from the American for accidently hitting him with his cue.

이 클립에서 미국인 남성이 서울 이태원 음식점들이 있는 거리에서 한국 노인과 처음 말다툼이 벌어지자 일부 시민들이 뜯어 말리려고 하였다. 그러나 이 남성이 갑자기 노인에게 달라 붙어 대여섯번 머리를 구타했다.
노인이 길바닥에 넘어지자 지나가던 한국 사람 2-3명이 말렸다. 뜯어 말리는 가운데도 그는 욕을 해가며 “이라크에서 6년 동안 싸웠다”며 “당신이 만난 사람보다 더 많은 사람을 죽였다”고 노인에게 큰소리를 말했다.
