The prosecution will today summon Lee In-kyu, one of the key figures involving the unauthorized surveillance of a businessman by the Prime Minister’s Office, according to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office said Sunday.
Lee, who was in charge of the supervision of civil servants’ ethics at the premier’s office, is suspected of having orchestrated the unlawful investigation of a citizen who posted a video clip criticizing President Lee Myung-bak on his blog in 2008.
His summons follows the questioning of other officials from the premier’s office and Kim Jong-ik, the victim of the surveillance, last week.
“There are no other suspects or witnesses but Lee to summon,” an official from the prosecution office said. “We’ve made some progress in our investigation.”
The prosecution is expected to question him on whether he received ordered from superiors and to whom he delivered the results of the surveillance of the businessman.
