South Korea’s archers are aiming high today with the goal of sweeping the top spots at the Guangzhou Asian Games.
The individual and team competitions will take place at the Aoti Archery Range.
The Korean team contains two male and two female world record holders and the squad is looking to get off to a good start in what will be trying conditions.
The national team is not only skillful but also mentally tough.
The archers have trained to keep their composure, practicing in noisy baseball stadiums or cycling arenas.
At the Beijing Olympics, Park Sung-hyun competed against Zhang Juanjuan of China in the women’s individual final, and the Korean lost her concentration due to the noise made by Chinese spectators.
In the recently held FITA Archery World Cup in Shanghai, the home fans again disturbed the world’s best archers making noises and using mirrors to prevent them from seeing the target clearly.
So far the Korean archers have been showing good form.
“I hope my archers show their what they can do in fair circumstances,” Korean archery team head coach Kim Seong-hoon said.
