One Korean tourist was killed and two others were injured while riding a zip line in Laos after a tree sustaining the lines collapsed suddenly.

According to the Korean Embassy in Laos, Wednesday, the accident occurred at around 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, at Vang Vieng, a famous tourist attraction four hours north of the country's capital Vientiane, well-known for its beautiful surroundings.

A 48-year-old Korean fell to his death after a seven-meter-high tree supporting the cable collapsed.

Two others who were riding the line before him sustained scratches and bruises on their legs and backs as the line was slackened suddenly. They received treatment soon after the accident.

The three were colleagues at a company in Busan and arrived in Laos for a vacation, Sunday, and registered for the zip line tour through a local tour agency in Laos.

The Korean Embassy in Laos dispatched a consul to the scene to follow up on the accident and requested local police investigate the accident thoroughly.

Bereaved family members of the deceased tourist arrived in Laos, Wednesday, and are consulting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about repartriating body.
