The Corea Image Communication Institute (CICI), the organizer of the forum, said Tuesday that the annual forum will take place on Aug. 25. Participants in Korea will gather at Grand Hyatt Seoul while those abroad will join online.
Under the theme of "Space and cultural communication," the participants will talk about how real-life and digital spaces respectively affect cultural communication and how they can be integrated.
"Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the concept and meaning of 'space' has become diverse, with a growing number of people seeking shared spaces," the CICI said in a release. "Also some 'new spaces' are emerging along with the development of digital technology such as the metaverse. The participants will discuss what changes have been made to 'spaces' in terms of cultural communication and what the spaces will be like in the future."
A keynote speech will be delivered by Guy Sorman, a French-American columnist in economics and philosophy who, as the presidential adviser to then-President Lee Myung-bak in 2010, suggested the National Museum of Korea be the banquet place of the G20 Seoul Summit, presenting the influence and importance of a space in cultural communication, according to the CICI.
