The ENHYPEN-inspired webcomic series, "Dark Moon: The Blood Altar," has reached 100 million views worldwide, the boy band's agency HYBE announced, Wednesday.
The fantasy romance series features characters designed after each member of the K-pop septet. Each turn out to be vampires and werewolves in the story. Last September, the boy group unveiled "One in a Billion" as an original soundtrack for the webtoon.
The digital comic, which began its run on WEBTOON, the global arm of Naver Webtoon, in January 2022, has ranked in the top five in the platform's chart in seven different languages, including German, Spanish, French, Chinese and Indonesian, according to the agency.
"Dark Moon" is part of the K-pop entertainment giant's Original Story project, which aims to develop original contents, or story-based intellectual property (IP), to expand its artists' brand beyond the realm of music.
In addition to "Dark Moon," "7FATES: CHAKHO" and "The Star Seekers," both released in January of last year, have been produced in collaboration with boy bands BTS and Tomorrow X Together (TXT), respectively.
After seeing success with these titles, the company went on to roll out "Crimson Heart" and "Dark Moon: The Grey City" at the end of last year ― each inspired by the rookie girl group Le Sserafim and the predominantly Japanese boy band &TEAM.
