Streaming services, like Netflix and Disney+, are set to release their own original series this coming month, as well as gearing up to premiere series featuring big-name stars like So Ji-sub and Seo Yea-ji.

Netflix will premier the fantasy music drama "The Sound of Magic" on May 6. The live-action adaptation of the popular webcomic of the same name by Ha Il-kwon will follow a coming-of-age story of disenchanted teenager Yoon Ah-yi (Choi Sung-eun), who lives in a harsh reality and who struggles financially.

She encounters a mystery magician (Ji Chang-wook) living in an abandoned theme park who helps bring hope to her life through magic.

Director Kim Sung-youn, who directed hit series like "Itaewon Class" (2020), has teamed up with writer Kim Min-jeong again for the first time since the period romance series "Love in the Moonlight" back in 2016.

Disney+ is rolling out a new Korean-language series "Kiss Sixth Sense," adapted from the webcomic of the same name.

The fantasy romance series, set to hit the platform on May 25, revolves around Hong Ye-sul (Seo Ji-hye) who has a special ability to see other people's future through a kiss. When she accidentally kisses her mean boss Cha Min-hu (Yoon Kye-sang) on the neck, she sees their future together in bed. It is led by director Nam Ki-hoon whose previous work includes the 2018 rom-com series "The Beauty Inside" and is scripted by Jeon Yu-ri who wrote the 2018 romance series "Radio Romance."

Posters for Netflix's fantasy music drama 'The Sound of Magic,' left, and Disney+'s romance series 'Kiss Sixth Sense' / Courtesy of Netflix, Disney+

A-lister So is making a small-screen return with MBC's upcoming legal series "Doctor Lawyer," about four years after his last series "My Secret Terrius" in 2018.

The actor will play genius surgeon Han Yi-han who becomes a lawyer after one of his patients died from his surgery. Specializing in medical litigation, he helps those suffering from medical malpractice and negligence, while tracing the truth behind the surgery that changed his life.

The series, scheduled to go on air on May 27, is directed by Lee Yong-suk, who led the hit historical drama "Iljimae" (2008), and is scripted by Jang Hong-cheol, who wrote the suspense series "Class of Lies" (2019).

Seo Yea-ji, who rose to global stardom after leading the hit romance series "It's Okay to Not Be Okay" (2020), will be returning to the small screen after two years with tvN's new series "Eve," which will premier on May 25.

The romance series will follow a woman named Lee Ra-el (Seo) who seeks revenge on an upper-class "chaebol" family for her father's death. She marries into a powerful family that runs a conglomerate and files a 2 trillion won divorce lawsuit that shocks the country.

The series is led by newcomer Park Bong-sup and scripted by Yoon Young-mi, who wrote the 2014 series "Birth of a Beauty."

"Woori The Virgin," the Korean adaptation of the popular American series "Jane The Virgin," is also set to go on air on May 9.

The SBS series follows an assistant writer for TV drama, Oh Woo-ri, who is a virgin. She is accidentally impregnated with the sperm of a successful CEO named Raphael (Sung Hoon) and faces single motherhood.

The series is directed and scripted by Jung Jung-hwa, who led the 2019 rom-com "Absolute Boyfriend" and comedy series "The Sound of Your Heart: Reboot" (2018).
