Actor Seo Kang-jun is currently serving his mandatory military service, but his absence from the entertainment industry is hardly noticeable, as his works are being released one after the other.

Earlier this month, he starred in director Kwak Jae-yong's new romantic comedy, "A Year-end Medley." In February, he will be returning with the Disney+ series, "Grid," a mystery thriller that follows a government official and a police officer who tenaciously delve into the secrets behind a mysterious being that saved humanity from a deadly crisis, but then reappears as the collaborator of a serial killer 24 years later.

Seo plays government official Kim Sae-ha, who joins forces with police officer Jung Sae-byeok (Kim A-joong) to investigate the mysterious being, which vanishes into thin air after committing a crime. The two stand at odds with Song Eo-jin (Kim Moo-yul), a senior official who denies the existence of the "grid."

Kim Sung-kyun, who played a serial killer who preys on a young girl in "The Neighbors" (2012), will once again portray a notorious serial killer, while "Sweet Home" actress Lee Si-young will appear as the mysterious being, which is able to tell the future.

Shooting for "Grid" took place from May to November of last year. With the aim of shortening his hiatus from work, Seo was able to complete filming several projects before enlisting in the army on Nov. 23.

"Grid" is directed by Lee Khan, known for "The Divine Move 2: The Wrathful," and written by Lee Su-yeon, who has a massive following for her previous work in the "Stranger" series.

According to Seo, the grid is "a pattern of straight lines that protects Earth's surface"

"It's an honor to unveil our series through Disney+. I don't think there will be any certain nuances of the culture that will be lost in translation. The storyline and the message are clear. I'm both curious and excited about how both domestic and overseas fans will react to our series," he said.

"It's an honor to be working with talented screenwriter Lee Su-yeon. I enjoyed reading the script for 'Grid,' which is her first sci-fi project. It was also thrilling to act alongside Seo and Kim. I hope that viewers will enjoy the series," actress Lee said.

Since debuting as a member of the actors' group, 5urpise, in 2013, Seo has starred in many TV series, including tvN's romantic comedy, "Cheese in the Trap" (2016), and OCN's crime thriller, "Watcher" (2019). Kim shot to fame after starring in "200 Pounds Beauty" (2006) and has appeared in many TV series, including SBS's "Sign" (2006) and ""Punch" (2014).

"Grid" will be exclusively available on Disney+ starting Feb. 16.
