Actress Park Si-yeon has apologized after reports surfaced that she had caused a car accident while drunk driving, Sunday.
The actress, 42, issued an apology on social media Wednesday, a day after media reports about the incident.
"Regardless of the reason, I never should have done it. I deeply regret being so reckless and am seriously reflecting on my actions," she said.
According to the Songpa Police, Park's car bumped into another vehicle waiting for a green light at a three-way junction in Songpa-gu, southeastern Seoul, at 11:30 a.m. No one was seriously injured.
The level of alcohol in her blood was 0.097 percent ― high enough to get her license revoked.
She reportedly admitted her charges to police and was released the same day.
Her agency Mystic Story claimed that she was still drunk from the night before.
"Park Si-yeon had drinks at home with her friend on the night of Jan. 16 (Saturday) and drove her car the next day, believing she was sober," the agency said in a statement, Tuesday. "But regardless of the reason, we feel that she is responsible for letting such an incident happen, and she feels deep regret."
Yet many remain skeptical, as this is not the first time she has been in trouble with the law.
In 2013, Park was indicted over abusing the anesthetic drug propofol for recreational purposes. She received a suspended prison term for the crime.
